Addressing Climate Change – How we, as individuals, can make a difference?
Artikel 1:
Global warming is gathering pace. It is needed disheartening to note that this is an inevitable price of modernization. Global warming is also attributed to deforestation and urbanization. This rude awakening for mankind causes detrimental effects such as the extinction of fauna and flora, rising sea levels and dreadful floods. Instead of pointing an accusing finger to the authorities, we, as individuals should pay a pivotal role to combat the predicament.
There are many ways to prevent global warming. Drive less. More and more cars are manufactured to cater to the needs of every family. By car pooling to work to our school, bumper-to-bumper crawls can be alleviated and this also reduces kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions a year. Travel by public transport or walk instead of driving. We should also consider investing in hybrid or electrical vehicles as they are reasonable and proficient.
In our homes, replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb as it uses less energy. Besides, we can give them as gifts to family and friends or donate a set to a local charity to refit their office with compact fluorescent lights (CFL). We should also choose energy-efficient appliances for they will save us about a third on the energy bill.
There are ‘vampires’ in our homes. Stand-by mode for computers, radios, televisions and other electrical appliances consume energy, so switch them off. Maintenance of our appliances such as our refrigerators and their conditioners is also of paramount importance as they can leak very toxic and harmful chemicals.
Having showers instead of long baths is advisable. Whenever we are brushing our teeth, turn off the faucet. Run the dishwashers and washing machines only when they are full load, and use the energy-saving setting.
Cut down on our garbage. We should also buy fewer packaged materials. Composting is an imperative avenue which will help us to dispose of biodegradable wastes in our homes.
To give our Mother Earth in facelift, buy recycled products. It is very beneficial to use recycled paper or products that are manufactured from ecologically managed forests. Studies depict that it takes roughly nineteen trees to make one tone of paper and that usage of one tone of recycled paper will save approximately seventeen tress.
Minimize the usage of plastic bags. Make an attempt to bring our own reusable canvas grocery bags whenever we go on a shopping spree.
Last but not least, plant a tree. A single tree will absorb approximately one tone of carbon dioxide during it’s lifetime.
Actions should be taken to prevent global warming. If this prevalent problem is not rectified, mankind may face extensive crisis. Therefore, we should count our blessings and not take the environment for granted.
Artikel 2:
Global warming is dramatically urgent and serious problem. Each individual can bring an important help adopting a more responsible lifestyle. It’s the only reasonable way to save our planet.
Look at the worlds! The worst form of virus has infected this planet, a virus that multiplies astronomically, kills anything and everything that can be killed, destroys or alters all else. The virus is called human. And it is about to destroy the very planet it lives on.
In our blind arrogance, we destroy trees, mountains, rivers, lakes, islands, oceans, even the atmosphere just because we need more spaces for our offspring or need machines for our convenience. Everything that comes on our way is wiped out, murdered and turned into paper, meat or leather. Things that don’t come on our way initially, dies too because we destroys everything in the surrounding environment that was necessary to sustain life. Look at the world in its ravaged form global warming, holes in the ozone layer, destruction of forests, industrial pollution and billions of animals dying everyday. So, what do we do?
We simply need to make a few small changes and teach those changes to those around us and we will help the environment in a big way.
I’m sure you have heard it a million times-recycle. You can save pounds of carbon dioxide by recycling the waste your household generates. It’s simple but you fail to do so.
People, use your shopping bags. When shopping, it saves energy and waste to use a reusable bag instead of accepting a disposable one in each shop. It’s environment-friendly.
Go green. Plant a tree in your backyard now. A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Shade provided by trees can also reduce your air conditioning bill.
You can always take a shower instead of a bath. A shower takes up to four times less energy than a bath.
Start a carpool with your coworkers or classmates. Sharing a ride with someone will reduce kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb. It uses 60% less energy than a regular bulb.
Use the washing machine only when they are full. If you need to use it when it is half full, then use the half-load or economy setting.
Walk instead of driving when the travel distance is short. You’ll use less gas, and get a workout as well. Walk while you can.
Heal the world, let us heal ourselves. There is no more time to dilly dally or play. The world needs you, not the sleeping, confused, arrogant, self centered, materialistic ‘you’, but ‘you’ who with unbearable compassion decides to dedicate his or her life to heal this planet.
Awaken everyone, before it’s too late. Carry the light to the darkest corners. Do what you can do today, don’t wait, don’t think, don’t justify. Begin, right now, you can make a difference!
